Photographer's Note

Church of San Vittore - Vallerano (VT)

It stands at the highest point of the castle, in its center.
There is no historical information about its origin, and the continuous tampering suffered over the centuries does not help to establish its construction period based on the stylistic analysis.
The first documentation dates back to 1450, a memorandum contained in the books of the council decisions, relating to the construction of the new baptistery, the one still existing: (the current one) carried out in, of the following tenor: Cum vasculum lapidem ex quo baptizantur parvuli in Ecclesia S. Victoris Martyris sit vetustate undequaque corrusum, novum faciendum est et cum faciendum sit, sit bene lavoratum.
The fact that the old stone baptismal font was corroded by its age in the mid-fifteenth century is a sure indication of the antiquity of the church.
