Photographer’s Note
ENGLISH: This is the entrance to the Pantheon, taken on my first trip to Italy with a very basic point-and-shoot camera. This is a scan of the original photograph. The sharpness leaves alot to be desired but I liked the light coming through the dome.
The Pantheon (which in ancient Greek translates to "every god") was originally built Marcus Agrippa as a temple to the gods of ancient Rome. It was rebuilt in the 2nd century AD and has been in use ever since. The Pantheon's dome is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world - not bad for something that's 2,000 years old. Since the 7th Century AD, it has been used as a church, dedicated to St Mary and The Martyrs.

Hi Lisa,
Yes, the scan has effected sharpness - but it seems that it has created an overall softness which fits with the whole picture. Perhaps Devine intervention?
What wonderful strong large doors. I like this POV very much. Thanks for sharing.
Graham.

Hi Lisa!
Fantastic photo, great composition and framing, but the most impressive part is the excellent light managment, of course! Congratulations!

Hi Lisa,
I've been there too and your shot captures this amazing structure really well! Love the fact that you include the door. Shame that the quality isn't better, but that's just how it goes with the old shots. Definitely worth posting!!
Take good care!

Hi Lisa,
Almost other-worldly, a divine light maybe, yet ghost-like in the way it comes out. Technically there probably is much to be desired for, but precisely that makes it such a fascinating image.
