Sunset Over Bari, a photo from Bari, Apulia

Photographer's Note

Located in the capital of Italy's Puglia region, the Port of Bari is one of the most important ports in the region. It stands as a gateway between Italy and the Middle East and Balkan regions.
The port's facilities include a tourist information office, banking facilities and several shops situated inside the port itself.
The facility also houses a cruise terminal with a coffee shop among other eating and shopping establishments.

Bari's old city district is rich in history. The labyrinth of streets and alleyways reveal architecture and cathedrals dating back 900 years.
Bari is also where we find a Cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas, also called Nikolaos of Myra, who was a historic 4th-century saint and Greek Bishop of Myra (Demre, in Lycia, part of modern-day Turkey). Because of the many miracles attributed to him he is also known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him, and thus became the model for the modern day Father Christmas or Santa Claus.

Una vista spettacolare sul porto e la citta'. Dettagli perfetti, e colori forti ma bilanciati.
Hai usato HDR? Se si', e' al livello giusto (molti ne abusano).

It takes a lot of pixels to create such a sharp and detailed cityscape... :-p)

You've found a striking point of view to present the port of Bari with impact.

I like your post-processing, on the verge to be too saturated, but with a very pleasing metallic blue that dominates your image.

Hello Santo - What a crisp and colourful shot! Your POV is very good and allows us a view across the water and over the cityscape to the sunset sky beyond. The image is vibrant and slightly off-beat in colour but that is what makes it so attractive. Best regards Rosemary

bella vista del porto di Bari nell'ora del tramonto.
Il molo in FG dà profondità all'immagine.
I colori però sembrano poco naturali, come se ci fosse un'elaborazione in HDR. E' così?

Beautiful colours of course, giving meaning to the term "blue hour"..!
A well exposed scene with sharp fine details where some rays from the setting sun adds warmth to some elements...
The slightly elevated point of view gives a good impression of the place!

The composition is fine, with the pier and lighthouse providing a fine foreground, but this picture is really all about light and colours. Pure magic.

Ciao Santo, senza dubbio un HDR professionale questo sembra così reale di avere la sensazione di poter toccare ogni dettaglio da quanto è ben definito. Anche guardanodo verso il fondo la risoluzione è sempre ottima.

The lighting in this shot is fabulous, and so are the beautiful colors in the sky. I like the rocky outcrop in the foreground, and the row of buildings closest to the water. It is a great POV, and a photo full of great details.

Caro Santo

Wow, either Bari has changed, or I was walking around in a daze when I was last there. Actually, it's more likely I was in a daze. It looks so sleek and pristine. My memories are of dirty streets and delapidated buildings. But this is something totally different, and so beautiful. Lovely pastel colours and the definition is superb. The town's architecture looks three dimensional. Love your note too. A lovely combination, thanks for sharing.

Area quà, a xampada (claw, in lingua oceanica) de queo che ogni tanto el tira fora el capolavoro! Me domamdo come te ga fato a tirar fora sta nitidessa, forse te a gà lavorada un fiantin co qualche filtro, ma istesso, te ga fato na foto strepitosa! Xe veramente diffissie vedar dettagli che i xe a km de distansa ciapai co sta perfetta definission, sensa contar a fantastica luce, i coeori e a profondità che te si riussio a dar. Questa a xe na foto daea quae tuti noialtri dovarissimo imparar calcossa, sopratuto quei che dise chel xe un HDR ;-) un vero esempio de perfession. Superbravissimo!
