Ballinskelligs Bay

From the village of Ballinskelligs, we turned onto a small road, which would lead us further along the coast of Ballinskelligs Bay. The road wound its way up the slopes in the direction of Bolus Head (Irish: Ceann Bhólais) in the far west of the Iveragh Peninsula and slowly turned into an unpaved road. Seen here are the ruins of what I believe was once the village of Cill Rialaig. Part of it has been in use as an artist’s retreat since 1992 (these houses, obviously no ruins, can be seen in the distance), after the village had been abandoned completely for about half a century.
