The Spire of Dublin

A remarkable work of art in the centre of Dublin is the Spire of Dublin, a large stainless-steel needle of 120 metres. Alternatively titled the Monument of Light (Irish: An Túr Solais), it is located on O’Connell Street and was designed by Ian Ritchie Architects. It was installed in the winter of 2002-03 and stands at the site of Nelson’s Pillar, which was bombed and heavily damaged in an IRA attack in 1966.
