Photographer's Note

I have never experienced the midnight sun before, it is really something special.
This shot is taken around 11.30 pm. For a couple of hours there where sunset, then sunrise, no darkness. Very special and very beautiful.

I found this horse by the lake Lagarfljót outside the town Egilstadir on the north east central Iceland.

The icelandic horse has not been mixed with another race for thousands of years, therefore they have kept the ancient, five gaits, besides of the ususal three (walk, trot and gallop) they also have tölt and pace. The horses are rather small, but strong enough to carry a full grown man. In fact on Iceland most riders and breeders are men, so called "hestamen".
I will post more pictures of the amazing icelandic horses and add more facts about them then.
