Photographer's Note

The Theatre of Dionysus was a major open-air theatre in Athens, built at the foot of the Acropolis.
It was dedicated to the god of wine and fertility.
It was constructed in the 6th century BC and rebuilt in the 4th century BC. All the works of the great ancient dramatists Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes were first performed at this location during the 5th century BC.
