Photographer's Note

Thines is a forest in western peloponnese, near the small town of Vartholomio in Greece. The greek name "Thines" means sandhills, which is informative of the morphology of the ground, since it is located not very far from the beach. The flora, is full of pine trees (two or three species, typical of the area)and small sand lilies. You can also see many honeycombs, brought there by local farmers.
In this photo we can see only the western site of the forest which was burnt in the fires of summer 2007. Local people do everything they can to reforest Thines
