Photographer's Note

I captured this group on Hessian folk dancers on a rural festival at Loshausen near Schwalmstadt. Many foreigners only think of Bavarians or perhaps the Black Forest people when German folk costumes are being mentioned. But the Hessians also have a great tradition in this topic.
It is remarkable that all dancers are in juvenile age which proves that rural traditions were still well kept - at least 26 years ago when I took this on film.

BTW: The girls and unmarried women wear a red pompom on their heads while the married women are restricted to black.

Scan from paper print.
