Commanderie of the Knight Templars

Commanderie is based by 1180. Gui II, Lord of Chevreuse gives in charity to the Knight Templars before his death a House in Villedieu: this donation is the foundation of Commanderie.
Situated on St Jacques de Compostelle's road, this commanderie serves as bastion where from the warlike monks protect the road and from place of reception for the pilgrims.
This equestrian statue, bronze, represents a Knight Templar was set up near Commanderie by the Knight Templars.

Il est majestueux ce fier chevalier portant la bannière!Bon cadrage qui met en valeur cette belle statue mais aussi le somptueux bâtiment en arrière-plan.L'exposition et les couleurs sont parfaites.

Je note ici un bon cadrage du templier avec l'église en arrière-plan.

Salut Philippe. A nice find and a good framing to have the equestrian statue behind the old church, it makes for an interesting contrasting element. The metal "flag" on top of the spear is well placed in the photo, and overall the level of contrast and the range of colors are pretty good. Nice shot.

Fier chevalier , Monument du fond des âges ( quelle magnifique toiture !) , une belle composition qui reveille notre penchant pour l'histoire . C'est donc un des lieux de l'épopée de Compostelle , témoin d'une époque où la foi faisait traverser des montagnes , faute de les déplacer ... Bien sûr , c'est très beau et bien fait , mais c'est une tradition , plus une surprise !

Une jolie prise de vue de cette superbe statue qui se détache parfaitement de la chapelle en arrière plan. J'aime beaucoup l'effet visuel que cela donne. Par ailleurs la bonne gestion de la lumière renforce le relief de la photo. Une excellente composition, bravo Philippe.

A une vingtaine de kms de chez moi il y a une une dépendance de la commanderie de Montseugny(en Haute Saône). Un sujet passionnant je trouve.
Une jolie vue de ce fier chevalier.

Interesante imagen y un gran punto de vista, nos muestras dos escenas diferentes en una sola fotografía, el primer plano del caballero contrasta con gran intensidad sobre el castillo del fondo, aunque creo que la estatua está un poco comprimida por arriba y por abajo, creo que debería de tener mas aire, por lo demás un tiro perfecto con una perspectiva fantástica, buen trabajo amigo.

Je ne sais pas si visuellement le pov est le meilleur (ou alors avec une autre dof) mais par rapport au propos, il n'y a pas de problème. Gros dilemne. Par contre, cette statue est impressionnante et tu l'as très bien capturée. Elle est presque pleine de vie, tellement elle inspire le mouvement (l'étendard y est pour beaucoup).

l'Ordre des Pauvres Chevaliers du Temple de Jerusalem ou simplement -Les Chevaliers du Temple- associé avec beaucoup des légendes et toujours au centre de l'intérêt, donne des histoires infini...
Cette statue noire contraste impressionante contre les murs de la commanderie; une autre histoire...

les templiers comme tu le représentes ici étaient de bons moines guerriers, des constructeurs de cathédrale, grand commerçants et j'en passe ... Cette statue de bronze est joliment réalisée et le cheval bien représenté. Très jolie représentation.

The commanderie is another beauty. I love these old stone buildings, so simple and so elegant. The composition you've chosen offers us the templar as a living being leaving on some sort of mission. The road, San Juan de Compestella, is one I really want to travel one day. The old pilgrimage routes are sure to be full of beautiful old buildings as this one.

The name of the this photo interested me, but then when I saw the photo, I realized how compelling an image it was. The composition and perspetive are flawless, and so are the exposure and definition. Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo, as well as the detailed note.

Fabulous Templar knight on a horse statue, with its grandeur appearence and the Chateau on the backdrop's.
Templars has long history in Israel, first mentioned in the 12th century crusaders journeys, but most established in the late 19th century when built several settlements around the country.
Superb photojob done, good contrast and shine black painted sculpture.
