Photographer's Note

Translation of the title from Dutch : Musical boat in a nutshell.
Reiner Sijpkens is a Dutch musical artist as colourful as his nutshell boat, made as a multiple instrument : barrel organ, trumpet, ship bells, hornshell...
We found him at the beginning of our visit to the site of “Brest maritime celebrations 2016”, and his good humour put us straight in a happy mood.
In his country, he travels along the canals to entertain people with his original show.
Queen Beatrix even invited him to perform on the occasion of her abdication.
I dedicate this post to Rob and Lars, our favourite Dutch friends. I suppose they know this national hero :-)

In WS, 2 Dutch schooners which were also part of the celebrations.
You may notice that I chose the little one to be the important representative of his country :-)

But in all, there were 5 Dutch tall ships taking part in “Brest 2016”. The Netherlands are a proud maritime country !

“Thalassa” and “Regina Maris” pictured.

+ “Loth Lorien”, “Marie-Galante”, “Europa” which I didn't manage to distinguish amongst the hundreds of ships present in the bay of Brest that week.
