Photographer's Note

Hello everyone that I knew well on TE until January 2014, when I had to take a break to look after my dear mother who was living her last days. And then, with one thing and another, it became a long 3 yr break, although I missed TE and my friends very much.

Anyway, here I am again, I hope for good !

For my comeback, I wanted to pay tribute to my dear mama with this menhir. She was born a few hundred yards from the monument, and knew it well.
I thought it appropriate to post this photo in her memory, not only because she lived nearby all her life, but also because she was like a rock to all that lived with her. I think it symbolizes her life well !

Menhirs are megaliths dating back to Neolithic times, ie 7000 BC to 4500 BC.
After some research, I found that this lone menhir (3.5m high) like many other similar ones, was most probably like a road marker, indicating the way to a burial mound.
This stands to reason, as there is a prehistoric burial mound situated 2km away.
2 added photos in WS.
PS. Thanks to some viewers, I found out that the menhir had probably been sculpted into the shape of a face. Can you see it in the lower profile: Nose, Mouth, eye and all !
