Photographer's Note

U Bancon

The first photo meeting of Corte forum organized by the "Image-in-Corsica" was held this weekend. They were very successful with the public. One hundred photographs taken by amateurs were distributed throughout the city following seven themes.
Saturday and Sunday were held out two "heritage" and "nature" for two photo contest. Upon returning from their hike, a picture was drawn for the jury.

I myself participated in the Heritage on Saturday morning. A small bus with on board 31 participants visited the region Boziu near Corte. This valley has many villages.
For my part, I chose to present to the jury in this picture taken Bustanico. It represents what the ancients were more valuable in their house: the bench (Bancon) which was placed near the central fire in the common room, "the fucone."
In WS, you will find a section of a typical Corsican house. In my gallery, you will have architectural examples and detailed notes on the oganisation villages.

The fucone is a home smoke free which escapes through openings in the walls of the attic and through the interstices of the plates of shale. The hearth is a mixture of soil and ash content in a mobile or fixed wooden or stone combining the two materials. The common room is located in the attic where dry chestnuts. In the vast majority of the regions of Corsica, the dryer is a small annex building at home. The attic comes attached. Note that the only region where no fucone Balagne is across the solid, except in the south.
The fucone has become the symbol of family life. There are utensils used for cooking and benches with armrests to take place before the fire. It is usually reserved for old people watching the fire.

According to the riches of the family, it is a bill more or less worked. Equipped with a safe, it is used to store flour or other foodstuffs.

Fucone Banconi and furniture are both associated with the traditional life corse
