Photographer's Note

After a few photos of city of Vitré, I drive you a few kilometers to the north, to the city of Fougères, also at the frontiers of Brittany. This subprefecture of departement of Ille-et-Vilaine has about 20,000 inhabitants. The city is very known for its 12th century castle. It is in low town and is one of the biggest in France. Anyway, for the moment I take you to the high town, close to Fougères belfry. It was built in 1397 and it is the oldest in Brittany. When it was built, it was a symbol of the city craftsmen dynamism and will of independence. You can see its outline from almost everywehere in the low town.
