Photographer's Note

Wouldn't it be Nice...

---

The PLACE MASSÉNA is a historic square in Nice. Its layout was designed by Joseph Vernier in 1843-1844. Before the Paillon River was covered over, the Pont-Neuf was the only practicable way between the old town and the modern one. Now the square is covered and bordered by beautiful Italian architecture.

THIS PICTURE shows the back of La Fonteine du Soleil, a large fountain referring to Greek mythology. The four pillar figures are part of a 2007 installation by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, called "Conversation in Nice".
