Photographer's Note

The CITROËN DS is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive car that was manufactured and marketed by the French company Citroën from 1955 to 1975.

Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer André Lefèbvre styled and engineered the car. Paul Magès developed the car's unique hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension.

Noted for its aerodynamic, futuristic body design and innovative technology, the DS became one of the legendary cars of the 20th century.

In French the letters DS are pronounced "Déesse", which means Goddess.

Citroën sold 1,455,746 examples, some of them are still loved & driven. One of them was parked in front of the Lourmarin castle when we visited it.
