Photographer's Note

A view of the interior of the parish church at Fontvieille, which also featured in yesterday's post.

A gift of land by the abbot of Montmajour allowed the construction of the parish church in Fontvieille, Provence. Completed in 1695, the facade was rebuilt in 1765. The height of the clock tower was extended in 1866, which explains the different styles of the two towers.

The church has a high altar in marble, dated 1874. On the altar front are five marble statues representing Christ surrounded by saints. The church is dedicated to Saint Peter in Chains (in French - St Pierre Es Liens).
