Photographer's Note

I won't make yet another presentation of the Belem, as many have done it before me and much better than I could (see Myriamvillert's profile to know more about that ship) but I'll give you the picture's story about her visit to my hometown.

When I heard about the visit of the Belem, I knew exactly where I should go to take pictures. There is a place on the Harbour called "le Bout-Menteux". And if you stand there, you are straight in front of the entrance of the harbour, with a wooden jetty on either side, straight in front of any boat coming in.
That was just fabulous!! I didn't take that many pictures, I was so into the beauty and majesty of the scene. Back in a time when ship like this used to be dozens in Fecamp.

This one was taken on a Sensia film (color slide). It was then scanned and desaturated, leaving just a hint of blue (the flag at the top is supposed to be blue). Finally, I cropped everything around the masts and ran the whole thing through NeatImage.
