Photographer's Note

The picturesque small town of Ribeauvillé is located around 16 km north of Colmar and 75 km south of Strasbourg. It belongs to Haut-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France.

Ribeauvillé is partly surrounded by ancient walls, and has many picturesque medieval houses, and two old Gothic churches.

Ribeauvillé is located in the middle of the Alsace vineyards and is home to many viticulturists.
Most of them are associated in a winemaking co-operative named Cave de Ribeauvillé (established 1895), one of the oldest in France.

The wines of the Ribeauvillé-Riquewihr région benefit from a fame which classifies them among the best wines of Alsace.
This reputation justifies itself by a microclimate (the Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr region benefits from the lowest rainfall of France) and soils of recognized exception (13 out of 51 Alsatian Grand Cru wines are situated in the Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr region), allied to a thousand-years-old wine tradition.

One of Ribeauvillé best wines is the aromatic white Gewürztraminer (this is only my opinion).
