Photographer's Note

You can find the ruins of this castle in Crissay-sur-Manse, one of the 144 Most Beautiful Villages of France.

Formerly Crisseium, place where a fortress stands, Crissay-sur-Manse belonging to the archdiocese of Tours, it became the fief of the Guillaume de Turpin and his descendants. Built in 1527, the church holds two wooden statues of St-John and the Virgin. 15th mansions recall the village's golden age: grand logis du notaire, house of justice, Charles 7th's house.
