Photographer's Note
Port of Helsinki
This is probably a less known area of Helsinki, it’s a picture of the Port of Helsinki (Finnish: Helsingin Satama), located south of the city centre. This part is on the border between West Harbour (Länsisatama) and Munkkisaari quarter. The former is mainly used for passenger traffic, including ferries to Saint Petersburg, Russia and Tallinn, Estonia (in fact, since 2017 Helsinki has been the busiest passenger port in the world). The latter is home to the Hietalahti shipyard, of which the cranes in this picture are part.
Another impression of the Port of Helsinki is found in the WS, however I found the composition to be too messy for it to become the main picture.

Hello Lars,
This picture from the harbour reminds me of my adventure. I was going to Helsinki from Tallinn but I bought online the ticket Helsinki-Tallin- Helsinki, instead of Tallinn-Helsinki-Tallinn. Wrrr. I had to buy a new ticket to H., luckily I could use the ticket to Tallinn. Strange that there are two (now three) ferry lines, but they go from the various terminals, quite far from each other. And the trams are so expensive! Interesting industrial view.
Kind regards mAlgo

Hello Lars,
The red details brighten the view and the cranes provide attractive elements against the lightly cloudy sky. Nothing is as beautiful as the cathedrals or monuments in the central area of the city, but I always appreciate any trips outside the tourist tracks. I would not have guessed that Helsinki was the busiest passenger port in the world,
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Lars,
Two very interesting photographs of the port.
I'm not surprised that you chose this as your main post as it is more unusual. I cannot help but feel that the cranes look like elegant birds, maybe flamingoes, ready to perform a serene dance!
Your photograph, as well as being sharp, is very well composed, the hulls of the ships creating a good separation line.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
I wonder how information about the business of ports is gathered and recorded! I am surprised Helsinki is the busiest in the world.

Hello Lars,
A well framed image featuring the port area of the city. The cranes rising high above the ship and the building contribute a good dose of graphism to the scene. Ideal exposure with superb colours and clarity.

Bonjour, cher Lars,
Le port technique est d'importance et les navires également.
La présentation donne une idée de l'activité qui doit régner au sein de ce port.
Merci également pour le bonus.
Amitiés.

Hello Lars,
The red and yellow cranes and red plimsoll lines on the 2 freighters contrast well with the blue sky. Good sharpness and repetition of patterns and shapes. Tfs!

Hi Lars,
The big crane are waiting to start the unloading of the cargo. The point of view is showing the derails of the cargo ship and of the harbour buildings. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Dag Lars,

Hi Lars
You know me, I always say we need more abandoned subjects and more industrial subjects on TE. Here we have the industrial.
obviously the tall cranes are the main focal points, and thats totally fine with me. great to have the cloud coverage and the bright lighting, sweet. cheers

Hi Lars
Lovely work as it gives us a real glimpse of this marine hub and its related activity! Like especiAlly the bold shapes and bright red of the giant cranes and wonderful how it's all tied together and the detail shows it so well. Very effective, it does catch the eye all that "heavy metal" But most of all I love the sky colour...
Excellent capture, Congrats
Best regards

Dag Lars All these cranes appear as the threatening giant monsters of the sci-fi movies, especially the second from the right! Pleasing allover soft tones due to an hazed sunlight render much interesting details.

Lars, excellent view showing that shipyard belonging to Helsinki port. Two cargo ships are anchored here, the port is equipped with big cranes. Fine colors, good image quality and excellent light, instructive photo note, regards.
