Edje

Today I start with the travelogue of my trip to the Faroe Islands and Iceland.
We travelled with our own car. The first stage was from Haarlem to Hirshals in Denmark. There we took the ferry to Torshavn on the Faroe Islands, where we stayed for three days.

The Faroe Islands are nowadays an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark and has about 50.000 inhabitants.
Although the Faroer Islands consists several islands most parts of the country are well accessible.
It is obvious that the economy is thriving with a lot of new projects, salmons farms in almost every fjord and of course sheep on every slope, flat our steep.

A difficult task for me to give an adequate impression of this trip with all kind of photos outside my comfort zone. No big cities and no contemporary museums.
I will do my best to give the best possible impression.

I start with three pictures of Edje
Edje located on the north-west tip of the island Eysturoy
Coordinates: 62°17′57″N 7°5′25″W
The population is about 630 people. (website Edje)
Its name means isthmus (a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land. ) in the Faroese language.. Edje was settled by Vikings in the 9th century AD.

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.
