Damme

Damme and surroundings.

A new bike trip far a way of people for COVID 19

This photo was taken yesterday, many people do not want to stay at home anymore, but the government is allowed to cycle or walk.
But keep enough distance, I saw that most people respect this, the death toll is rising spectacularly in Belgium from COVID-19.

The creek is part of the earlier floods.

From the Branddijk-Damweg, further drainage was carried out in a northerly direction from the Zwin flood. A more northerly dyke line had already been created in 1228. It was formed by the Sluise Dijk, the Brolozen dijk, also called Noorddijk or Polderdijk, and the Maldegemse-Polderdijk.
Also from the direction of Heile and Lapscheure, it was reclaimed and later the Sluise Dijk was extended to the city of Sluis. After that, only a wide channel remained of the Zwin and several small polders were embanked in that bed.

To control the drainage, the entire area was divided into communities or waterways. The residents of a watering jointly contributed to the costs of draining the water from their area. The following waterings were created: the Watering of Moerkerke large 4700 measured at Moerkerke, Damme and Sijsele; the Oude Watering of Lapscheure large 3190 measured in Lapscheure; the Watering van den Broek large 1854, measured in St-Kruis and Damme; the Maldegemse Polder large 1212 measured in Moerkerke; Stampers corner large 665, measured in St-Katelijne outside Damme.

I hope you like it
Keep safe
