Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Protection

The cathedral was built during the reign of the Grodno & Brest bishop Mikhail (Ermakov) (1905 – 1915) to the memory of the Grodno soldiers who died during the Russo-Japanese war of 1904 – 1905.

The dedication service took place on September 30, 1907.

There is a wonder-working icon of the Kazan Mother of God in the cathedral.
There were attempts during the I World War to take this icon out of Grodno to Russia, but nobody could even move the icon, so it was left in Grodno.
