Photographer's Note

This is another view of a Mogote, these small limestone hills in the Samana Bay, north east of the Dominican Republic. The shot was taken from a cave in the middle of the mangrove system of the “Los Haitises” Natural park. Some of them can be 10 or 20 meters high and that was really impressive when navigating around them.

The Mogote is a word mainly used in Jamaica and Cuba to describe a hum, the geologic accurate word for this kind of karstic hill with a shape of sugar loaf. Hum is a serbian word which originally described the Popovopoljé mount in the former Yugoslavia.

Original framing, I resized the picture, adjusted the color balance and applied an unsharp mask.

Many thanks to Pauline for the detailed explanation about this Mogote...
