Photographer's Note

This is a detail of a well known banyan tree that can be seen in the Wat Sri Sawai, one of the oldest temples in Sukhothai. As this is a sacred tree, lots of little statues of Lord Buddha can be found there.

Sukhothai, the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam (13th/14th centuries) is a world heritage site. It's an area of more than 3 Km2, where we can find inumerous examples of the first Thai architecture - a mixture of influences and styles that gave origin to what is called today the "Sukhothai style!
