Photographer's Note

The temple is a complex within the Grand Palace and dates from the late 18th century. It is Thailand's holiest shrine. Unlike other Thai wats it has no resident monks. Encircling the bot of the Emerald Buddha, within the wat, are 112 images of Garuda, vahana of the Lord Vishnu. Garuda is half man and half bird and the images are shown holding nagas.
