two rather evil looking guardians at Wat Phra Kaew, near the Royal Palace in Bangkok
protecting the goods...

Wat Phra Kaew (Thai: วัดพระแก้ว) or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand. It is a potent religio-political symbol and the palladium of Thai society.

Wat Phra Kaeo has a plethora of buildings within the precincts of the Grand Palace. The entire complex, including the temples, is bounded by a compound wall of about 2 kilometres.
