Photographer's Note
This is Shell Island, a refinery plant located off the coast of Singapore.
I made a trip out to Singapore's Labrador Park as I heard it was a good place to photograph sunsets being located on the waterfront. Unfortunately the sunset was really nothing special tonight (hence you don't see one here). I did however get some interesting shot of the jetty, and the surrounding industrial areas.
This shot was taken from the end of the jetty.
I've posted a large version, if you click the image- you can see it. Are you able to find the Shell Logo?
I hope you like it!

Hi Dan,
You got a very nice and clean shot here. I really like how the smoke from the pipes, gives great detail in the sky.
Really good one, and nice to see the large version.
Good work..!!!

Hi Dan,
You made a wonderful job with this night shot. The slow shutter speed created a very nice and soft texture from thr chimneys smoke. This made the whole industrial image a bit romantic. Wonderful.

Magical shot Dan! I like the long time exposure, which gives the smoke stacks a flowing look, as the smoke is blown away. Great idea and it worked out brilliantly!

Well Daniel I am sure glad you chose the 30 second exposure effect. It really makes this place look busy with activity. The night exposure is super sharp and nicely exposed too. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Dan,
beautiful view of this refinery. The light on each part are making this very good. I like too the trail of smoke in the black sky.
Well done.

The exposure time is OK here to create a strange atmosphere, thanks to the smokes... The pano allows to "enter" the place and its details...
Well done.

Hallo Dan!
Your photo shows an impressing and - for me - an alarming scenery. These are the cathedrals of our time, a time in which this planet is plundered. Nevertheless this petro-chemical factory - by night - shows an astonishing aesthetics. Thank you for showing it!
Greetings from Germany!

This is a very nice view of the shipping center, my sister's job is international shipping manager for a company, I can just imagine how many of those containers she's been "in charge" of seeing they get to where they need to go. So much work, busy even at night. I like the wispy smoke or steam from the stacks trailing off to the left. Very visually pleasing photo.

this is a great panorama dan. it would have been nice if you'd included more details of the pano. is it a single shot??
i like the colours and the effect you've created with the smoke stack. well done at a 30 second exposure. in the large version the boats are a bit blurry, but nothing you can do about their movement in the water.
great shot. well done.

I like the neatness and straight lines with the soft curvey patterns of smoke in the air.The boats look good against the lights.

Hi Dan - incredible shot, I would never have thought a bleak industrial complex would make such a beautiful image, hats off and well done.
The large version is too large IMHO, even with my monitor's 1280x1024 pixel settings, alot of vertical scrolling is needed, and some image quality is lost, I try to size no more than 1000 pixels vertical for large posts.

The lighting makes this industrial scene look a bit like a model, something placed near the toy train depot. The panorama conveys the size and beauty inherent in grand engineering. Well done.

Amazing how beautiful something so ugly can be. Guess that's the epitomy of good photography.
