U Bein before noon Photo

Photographer’s Note

I had to post a photo of the famous U Bein bridge, the longest teak bridge (around 1,2 km long), near Amarapura. I arrived there a little before noon, so I don't have sunrise, sunset or even photos with reflections on the water (another reason to return there:)). One of the things I could get here was these silhouettes of the people crossing the bridge. This one was taken from the boat, and as I had just taken a portrait before, I forgot to adjust the camera and kept the f/3.5.

mi piace questa immagine del ponte in legno che divide in due lo scatto tra acqua e cielo.

Hello Ana,
This shot is more that what I saw in the thumbnail. Those miniature people walking on this amazing structure is all you need to make this special. They also provide a sense of scale. The shelter is well positioned too.

Bonita composição Ana.Os tons azuis e a ponte com este aspecto gráfico simples e frágil :( fazem um grande tiro.Ainda bem que captaste pessoas na ponte porque acrescenta vida à foto.

hehe, gostei da tua nota, Anabela. A chatice de não estar em todo do lado ao pôr e nascer de sol...Ainda assim tens as pessoinhas a caminhar contra o céu e não tens o sol de frente. Gosto desta vista geral. É simples e o grafismo funciona. De seguida apetece fazer experiências de corte para aproximar as pessoas só para ver o que dá.

l'architettura di questo ponte in legno è davvero incredibile, come spiegato dale tue belle note. Molto bella la composizione con le persone che lo percorrono ed i tenui toni di colore. Un'immagine che coniuga bellezza ed interesse culturale. Un caro abbraccio.

Considering that you were on a boat, this is a well rendered composition. Very nice lines and graphics, the people walking rightfully provides scale, and the intense blue sky drape the scene attractively. Wishing you well dear.

Hello Ana.
I've seen other photos of this bridge, but not like this one. I think the silhouettes of the people crossing the bridge really add something to this picture. It's such a fragile looking structure for a bridge so long. The composition is very sound, and the delicacy of the grasses in the water and the clouds above reinforce the idea of such a delicate, modest bridge which makes only a small invasion of the environment.

Hi Ana
You have done a great job of making do with the noon hour light. The silhouettes really work well here. If I may suggest try converting to a B&W and then crop to a panoramic format. I will try a WS if that is okay.

Hi Ana,
A very nice one of the U Bein Bridge. I remember being here at around the same time of day. Almost noon. You managed very well the light here. the people on the bridge gives very good scale to the overall landscape. I like the glimmering light on the river. Excellent composition too.
