Photographer's Note

Pretty little Muang Khua is an inevitable stop when travelling between Laos and Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam, or taking the brown Ou River by boat to Nong Khiaw. While not as scenically spectacular nor as developed for the traveller as the latter, Muang Khua, with its pastel-coloured houses, still has oodles of small-town charm, set amid starburst palms where the Nam Ou and Nam Phak meet. The heart of the place is its wet and dry market.
