Photographer's Note

let's try another "oldie" from my "Various" folder. I have never made any notes, any diary, unlike Gert, so quite often I do not remember where the photo was taken. I think that this one was from the village somewhere near Vang Vieng. we went to see how the tea was processed. here the tea leaves are cut by the women from the village.
Sixteen years ago Vang Vieng was a small village. Like many other places in Laos, or Vietnam, it became the tourists destination and lost its character. Vang Vieng lies just 4 hours north of Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
Outside the centre of the town lies a stunning natural landscape. Karst limestone mountains tower over Vang Vieng, with magnificent caves, lush rainforests, cool rivers and lagoons, traditional villages and farmland. Sadly, all these are under threat from growth and development.
