Photographer's Note
This shot was taken in the village were I was trekking around Muang Sing (see previous pic). There all the little children who are not working in the fields or hunting (under 8 years old) have to take care of their younger brothers and sisters all day long. That's why they carry them on their bag this way. It's really surprising to see so young children (4-6 years old) taking care of younger one...

Nice shot. I like to see kids like this. May be it's surprising but it's the lot of all the kids in a lot of countries..

Très beaux portraits, j'aime bien le grain de la photo ainsi que la belle palettes de gris, les expressions des enfants sont superbes. Bravo !

The blur, the noise and the BW works wonder for this shot. I would be tempted to crop it tighter but retaining the off-centered composition. Great shot!

Maybe it is because of black and white, but this shot reminded me photos which I've seen in newspapers back in 70-ies from the same region. But these kids from present time seem to be happy despite their not very easy living. At least they don't need to hide from bombs.
Great shot! ...and sorry for a bit too sad comment

A fine eyecontact, fine short DOF, fine of centre positions and very fine B&W-job. How could I miss this the first day?

beautiful picture in every way Xavier!
The background, those two kids and the composition is superb!
I think you could get out even more with some contrasts to parts of the picture. The kids faces and jackets is almst in the same zone as the background. I'll try a ws for you...

Hi Xavier,
this b/w is very strong, this scene seems to reflect pretty well daily life in Laos.
Thanks for sharing,
