Photographer's Note

I left Toronto on 6 February for a four month internship with an NGO in Asia. This shot was taken over the Pacific in my American Airlines Boeing 777 to Tokyo (where I had a three hour stopover before flying out to my final destination).

It was a pretty sleepless flight as it was daylight for the entirety of the 13 hour journey. Boredom set in pretty quickly as the movies on the seatback tv looped every few hours. This was one attempt to alleviate that boredom.

Michael notes in his critique that it doesn't look bright enough for daylight. The reason for this is that since it was so bright and everyone wanted to sleep, most of the windows were shut. I opened mine up a third for this shot.

I adjusted this on a pretty poor monitor and am not sure if I got the contrast quite right, pls let me know. Just to let you know, the original is bright, and evenly exposed, I darkened it on purpose b/c that's just how I see this pic. The question is though, is it too dark b/c of the poor quality of my monitor?

Post-pro: convert to b/w, levels, curves, sharpening.
