Photographer's Note

"Onbashira" means sacred Pillar. In this Nagano Pref., some selected Timbers are regarded as" the God”. At each seven years those God timbers are replaced and this year falls on this replacement. Selected 4 big timbers are cut down in the mountain and carried around disricts by enthusiatic participants. This is another odd but sacred fetival in Japan. They are charileaders for this festival and they are on the sacred wood.
