Photographer's Note

She was looking at what I was shooting!

Jam-packed bus? Yes it sure is crammed to the top brim in there, but if you can stand and breathe then it's not crowded enough!! This capture shows, some of local way of life, a unique but popular 'bis kayu' or
truck-bus used as public transport in rural Flores. The space on board is always fully utilised, people are eager to occupy even a little space that is left with all sorts of stuff which includes, goods, farm produce, baskets, domestic animals etc, etc amongst the passengers.

Unique in my eyes and a distinctive feature of traffic here but remained a popular means of people mover. Certainly a great local way to travel along the cool small mountain road - nickname 'Trans Flores Highway!
shaded by lush greenery. That's the way it goes here, so if you decide to get on one, be prepared to have good holding-on skills.

Taken on the outskirt of Bajawa town where you’ll see the real side of the country you’re in.

Meantime she's comfortably relaxed in her small world with a slinking movement of 'bis kayu' and totally isolated from the hectic life above.....
