Photographer's Note

Flores island is one of the most exotic and the least visited island in Eastern Indonesia's province of Nusa Tenggara Timur. Most of the friendly inhabitants are of Melanesian origins with strong ethnic touch and still influenced by the animistic beliefs. This 375km long impenetrable island has divided the rugged terrains into many distinct ethnic groups with interesting cultures and layers of traditional beliefs beneath the prevalent Catholicism. The nature settings are remarkably beautiful, there are 14 soaring volcanoes, colored crater lakes, dense forests and beautiful sea gardens. Five centuries ago the Portuguese explorers discovered this island and gave its lyrical name as Cabo da Flora which means Cape of Flowers after the beautiful coral formations that shimmer in her crystal turquois blue water.
