These were some of my neighbourhood chickens when I was living in Jogja. Yes, they have been painted. Yes, it was done on purpose...

Chicken is by far the most common meat to be eaten in town. No farmed birds here, only free ranging, garbage eating, florescent poultry.

But such changes weren't just for the sake of aviary fashion, it was also a way of distinguishing your future dinner from the neighbours.


This pic has been sharpened, colours saturated, and blur has been added to the background to reduce distraction.
