Photographer's Note

I took this picture from Merdeka (Freedom) Square. There lies National Monument. You can see bottom part of National Monument at this photo.

The National Monument (Indonesian: Monumen Nasional (Monas)) itself is a 422 ft (128.7 m) tall marble obelisk is topped with a flame sculpture coated with 35 kilograms of gold. It represents the people's determination to achieve freedom. It houses a historical museum and meditation hall, and is open to the public from 09:00 until 16:00. An elevator carries visitors to the top, offering a bird's eye view across the city to the sea.

It towers over Merdeka (Freedom) Square, and serves as Jakarta's most prominent landmark. The monument was built during the Sukarno era of nationalism.

I'll upload full picture of our National Monument soon..
