Photographer's Note

The outer walls of the Lakshminarayana Temple at Hosaholalu, Mandya Dist., Karnataka are the permanent story-tellers of major Hindu Epics. The carvings on the horizontal rows, each is associated to an epic. The Hoysala sculptors were the masters of building such temples during the period, 900 - 1300 A.D. The temples of Belur, Halebidu, Somanathapura and Javagallu are built in the same style as of Hosaholalu.
