Photographer's Note

My last photo showed people approaching downtown Bombay by train. This time you see them climbing the stairs of a bridge crossing the street outside Churchgate Station, the end of the commuter line. A few persons are trying to squeeze themselves downstairs to catch another train.

This is a scan of a Kodachrome slide. Here is a larger version.

This was in April 1973. In early May 1996 I came here with the idea of taking another photo of the same place but this pedestrian bridge was no longer there.

With this photo I conclude my journey through India in early 1973. A few days after I took this I flew to Karachi in Pakistan, where I started an overland journey of seven weeks to Istanbul. Then finally I flew back to Sweden. A few years ago I posted a lot of photos from that long journey, mainly from Afghanistan.

My next short series of photos will take you to another country, another time.
