Photographer's Note

The dirty kestopur canal goes through the northern and eastern part of the city of Kolkata. Once upon a time boats used to run through it; that was during the British colonial rule. Now it has not been dredged for long time. The makeshift bamboo bridge still exists and one has to pay 1/4 of a Rupee to cross. The new settlement is rapidly coming up on the left and in the right side there is another extension of the city (not seen) established in the 60's.
