This is also the Big Stupa of Sanchi but this photo was taken from the ballustrade we can see all around it.
Situated in Sanchi, this Stupa was built in the 3rd Century BC, by the emperor Ashoka, the Great. Originally it was much smaller, a brick structure protecting the relics of Buddha. Then, later, it was expanded, got the ballustrade all around and the 4 toranas (the gateways with the inscriptions we see all around).
It's considered the oldest stone structure in India. Other stupas and Buddhist buildings were built around later but this one is the most important one and for me the most impressive.
