Photographer's Note

Wutaishan is one of the largest (the largest?) lama pilgrimage sites outside Tibet. While we were there we saw a lot of buddhist pilgrims. The area consists of five flat mountains (Wutaishan means "five terrace mountain") about 3000 meters high and has around 50 temples and monasteries. It is famous for it's white dagoba of which I will post pictures later.

These prayer flags hung between a few trees behind one of the larger temples close to the main village. That temple was unfortunately infested by chinese tourists but if you are prepared to take a hike there are lots of temples where you will be on your own.
