Photographer's Note

Day VIII - 3:11 pm

2000 years ago, before dying, Emperor Qin asked his mausoleum get protected by a copy of his army. That's why the Terra Cotta Army was made.
6 000 statues (warriors, archers, cavalry men, horses...) were designed and buried. Every statue is unique : all the faces are supposed to the one of a former real man !!

The army stands in a pit, in a big awful exhibition hall (hard to find a pertinent pov or light). There are thousands of statues (all were not recovered or are still under repair) and there are thousands of tourists too and the atmosphere is a little disappointing. It's hard to dream there... And that's a pity, because the soldiers are really impressive. And all these different faces are really fascinating...

This shot is dedicated to Pete and Dan (this is the "right-click button shot" Guys ! Hope you'll enjoy it !!).
