Photographer's Note

Another bridge, this time from Wuzhen in Zhejiang province. I arrived early evening after a bullet train from Wuxi > Suzhou, then a bus south out of Jiangsu province on Christmas Eve. West Wuzhen is a photographer's paradise with over 60 stone and wooden bridges to choose from. The other section of canal town in east Wuzhen is also picturesque, and with still more bridges!

The Yangzi River Delta is mostly unstable silt & mud, so bridges have to be built solidly. You can see the reinforcing 'ribs' protruding from the sides. This prevents the bridge collapsing if it bulges outwards.
