Photographer’s Note
This peak would be the shortest distant between Heaven and Earth. Continuing with the scanned images, and following up on the last post, we hiked from Rongbuk Monastery to the base camp. (No, I was not climbing Mt. Every, just to visit the base camp, because I wanted to return home safely). The wind started picking up, which made it really difficult to walk, and with the thin air and strong wind, I could barely breath. The great thing about the wind was that it cleared up the clouds that covered most part of Mount Everest. It was in full view at this point. The sight of it was just breath taking. Literally, I couldn’t breath. A true photographer I am, gasping for air, I still managed a few good shots of it.
At the beginning of our trip, our Tibetan guide warned us that we may not be able to see it. It is often time cover in clouds even on nice clear day. He said there were some tourist who waited for a week and never get to see it. I was just so thrill to have seen it in full view, and this lasted about 20 minutes or so before the clouds start moving in again.
Sagarmāthā in Nepali, Chomolungma or Qomolangma in Tibetan. or Zhumulangma in Chinese, known to most of us in the western world as Mount Everest – is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height above sea level of its summit, 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in Asia, is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet, China.

Hello Way,
It should have been a wonderful trek ! With such lovely landscape, it was heaven, I guess.
I like the composition of this picture, the river driving the eye toward the mountain. And the deep blue sky is so beautiful...

Hi Way,
i think it was a great experience to have a look at this giant from this close distance. I like this image, especially the including of the stoney ground ind the FG. That's your special way to become depth to the picture. It's really great. TFS
Have a fine day

Hi Way!
Is this really scanned?? The quality is great!I understand really well what you must have felt there, the scenery seems amazing. I like this format to show the difference between the water passing through the golden rocks in foreground and that mountain covered with snow in background. The blue sky is fabulous and sharpness is perfect. Great work with the scanner!

This is a fine shot with the river leading the eye to the mountain. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast for the snow covered mountain.

Another beautiful Mt. Everest photo from you, Way. It is crystal clear. Nice view. Congratulation for your successful trek, as you said it is covered most of the time by clouds. Nice foreground brown rocky ground and it is really contrasting with the white Everest. Great DOF and POV. Very well scan work. Tfs.
Congrats.

Hello Way,
You capture so well the beauty of the hostile nature, a nature that will kill you if you make one wrong step!
The composition is attractive as the stream is cleverly used to take my eyes to the snowy summit...
I notice this is an aging image by now so I guess it is a scan from an original, very well done!

Beautifully offset..the blue just pierces the eye..the climate changes are so erratic that it irritates the trekker..
yeah the sherpas say and promise alot of things..but you need to do your own bit of research from local people too to make the most of the tour and hike..i mean you make it to tibet from the US..you are not going back anytime soon..is it ?

That's almost touching distance from Chomolungma. The small snow melted stream is a fine lead-in trickling through the boulders and stones. The exposure is superb...not very easy with the snow...but you were blessed to get clear blue sky. What a view!

Hello Way,
Looking very carefully at this photo, which is a bit similar in composition to many of your pictures from the US, I can see that the sharpness and colours are not quite up to the quality of your digital photos. Nevertheless it's a magnificent view, and you were lucky to see the mountain on a clear day.
I remember being in the mountains of northern India long ago, where for several days there were only clouds. Then one day there was a crack in the clouds and I saw the mighty Kanchenjunga. It was overwhelming.

Gert

Hello Way! Wow, you were in TIBET!!! Check out www.manuelbauer.ch (a famous Swiss photographer) ... if you are interested ... but coming back to your photo, your scans are just incredible, of really good quality. Love your long foreground with the stone and the little river leading over to this beautiful mountain with some snow on the top. What a land out here or rather up here, just amazing, away from everything, yes close to heaven maybe. Have a wonderful weekend, greetings from Switzerland ... dinner time ... Barbara.
