Photographer's Note
My last photos featured elderly persons I saw in the streets of Lhasa in 1986, so this time I turn to the young generation.
The main photo shows a young man trying to earn a few yuan by playing his probably home made instrument in the street near the Jokhang Temple. I don't remember how it sounded, but with only one string he can hardly have accomplished much.
Here is a larger version.
In a WS you can see a gorgeous little girl, in another is a slightly older salesman. All photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.

Hej Gert,
Et meget godt portræt af den unge mand, der står på gaden med sin hjemmelavede violin. Der var ret mange mennesker omkring ham som stod og lyttede, så det lød vist godt, men han ser også meget koncentreret ud. Godt fanget med god skarphed.

A guy with a local home-made instrument, and i wonder how it sounds, Gert.
Altogether, one more take from daily life and people of Tibet, as also shown in the WS's, from a pat era of 30 years ago.
The men around were also looking at you when taken this picture.
Good new Friday,
Ike

Bonjour, cher Gert,
Ces photos d'archives restent un régal pour ceux qui aiment regarder de temps en temps dans le rétroviseur de l'histoire.
L'on peut ainsi mesurer les progrès réalisés dans le temps.
La qualité générale des prises de vue est à souligner.

Hi Gert
Good use of a shallow dof with excellent colour, sharpness and saturation. The musical instrument creates a superb focal point. Tfs!

Hello Gert,
He seems to have gathered an audience, or were all eyes on the photographer ;-) Interesting street capture. Very well realised with fine colours and clarity.

Hi Gert,
You have captured well the wondering expression of the man playing the musical instrument. The point of view is showing the details of his physionomy and of his clothings. The light i giving good rendering of the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert,
Three wonderful photos where we get to know Lasha's youth.
The musician looks very serious in his attempt to make music and earn some money.
Maybe he'll save for a second string. You gave him something, didn’t you. 😉
Again great scanning work.
Have a good weekend, groet Rob

Hello Gert, you keep these wonderful shots coming, and we are very appreciative.
Three more shots with the theme of young people this time. A pity that we cannot hear the sounds that this boy is making on his instrument.
Excellent quality.

What a superb street shot this is, Gert. I wonder how you managed to keep this in the vaults for so long. I also wonder if there are more gems like this on the way. This is jus tops!
I like the sideways glance, the dof, the colours, the pov and composition...and of course the interesting model. He wears worn-down army surplus clothes, it seems. So sadly typical. And for a musician he doesn't seem very happy. ALl this makes the shot even more meaningful.
Class!!

Hello Gert,
For a scanned photograph, this has a high quality. The colours and this clarity are very good.
This young man is like so many young men, trying to make a few extra pence by busking.
Though I suspect the small crowd has gathered to hear the musician, the appear to be more interested in you and your camera.
I cannot help but be impressed by your records of these people and their infectious cheerful character.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Dear Gert,
Now, that's what I call an interesting music instrument. Looking at the WS shots I had the feeling that you are squandering good photographs as WS shot. Those two would sell as a main upload beyond doubt. It proves that you have a lot of excellent shots, maybe too much to show everything as a main upload.
I wish you a nice WE!

Hi Gert
its always a mixture of feelings when arriving home from a trip, but i'm back :) I miss travelling and exploring, but its great to be back in my own bed :)
I'll post a new photo soon, within an hour or two, a drone photo :)
Excellent WS photos too, they could easily be main posts, especially the one with the couple. Great to have the bg blurred in your main post, makes the young man stand out in 3D. I love how his hat is on sideways a little, and I enjoy exploring his clothing/shoes. Lets hope the young man, now an older man, found a new career choice :) A visually interesting shot indeed. cheers

Hello Gert, It looks like a homemade instrument indeed. It is huqin, a spike fiddle popularly used in Chinese music. The instruments consist of a round, hexagonal, or octagonal sound box at the bottom with a neck attached that protrudes upwards. They also usually have two strings, and their soundboxes are typically covered with either snakeskin (most often python) or thin wood. Huqin instruments usually have two tuning pegs, one peg for each string. The most common huqin are the erhu, which are tuned to a middle range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZLQh5EEakc
Nice pictures.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Gert,
Very attractive street or market scenes.
The salesman and his companion are certainly still young enough to fit in this series.
The musician looks very serious unlike the flower-power girl in the WS.
Interesting to hear of a park. I had always imagined Lhasa and its surroundings as a land of rocks and stones.
I remain intrigued by the beautiful windows in the background.
Best regards, Paul

Hei Gert
Hilsen Erling

Ciao Gert
probabilmente il ragazzo molto bravo, non è facile fare musica con una sola corda...
Hai fatto delle foto a personaggi più giovani, ma sono passati molti anni, ormai non sono più giovani neanche loro.
Splendidi personaggi, ottime foto.

Hello Gert.
A good image with the street environment in Lhasa, where we see this young musician with this local instrument, but what catches the most attention is that all this youth, in his face has sadness and face of little happiness. Even the musician looks like annoyed.
Magnificent composition and color.
Excellent brightness and sharpness.
Well done. I love the photo.
Enjoy a good week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Gert,
Great quality daily life photo from street of Lhasa. This young musician with his home-made instrument caught attraction not only local people but also you. The local people listen the music but some of them made eyes contact with the photographer.
Well done as a scanned from old photo.

Hello Gert,
This young man looks sad. I hope he was able to collect a few coins. There are a lot of people standing around him, but somehow he still seems isolated. You did get lovely smiles in the WS photos. I like all three scenes.

Hello, Gert!
Another great series of old daily life photos of this trip to China! The rustic instrument in the main photo looks quite curious and I wish I could hear the sound of that. Very good narrow depth of field, which enhances the main character of the scene! Very nice portrait of this young musician!

Hello Gert, the crowd made of junior citizens gathers to see that young boy playing that strange instrument. Instructive street photo showing the daily life in Lhassa. The clothing weared by the people indicate the weather was not so cold in Lhassa in september

Lhasa look likes a mine of great street photo and portrait subjects! Great upload to complement your previous theme.
I really wouldn't know which of these three photos to choose for the main shot, they are all truly amazing stand-alone works of art.
Have a nice weekend

Ps. That cheese looks gorgeous...
