Photographer's Note

"Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
into the future.
I want to fly like an eagle, fly like an eagle
to the sea
fly like an eagle,
to be free."
(Steve Miller)

Shanghai is a city on the move,
onwards, forwards
into the future.

As a photographer I was very much drawn to the contrasts of life in the city, the fast-growing, the always on the move, the not looking back, the passing of time made tangible, made concrete...and the cracks of time, the invasions from the past, holding on, holding on.

And by the way, they were very nice people.

Picture taken on Changhua Road, northern part, just before the bridge to Zhongtan Road.
