Photographer's Note

this is a girl who comes every evening to angkor wat, with a pup asking for money. it seems like she's trained to keep ranting "1 dollar, 1 dollar" and her voice is so sweet that it feels as if it can melt a rock. this photograph was taken late in the evening when there was not much light. also i used a very saturated film ( kodak vs) in order to give it the look of a painting. i dont know if people here will appreciate it, but i know that the photographs in the national geographic editions in the 70s and the 80s had that look and i love it. maciej has also photographed this girl and she had a pup then too. it seems that the pup never grows up. maybe the pup keeps getting replaced. maybe the parents know what effect the pair of these innocent eyes can have on people.

please note that ive used a 17 mm lens although it may seem that i was standing far away somewhere at a great height, i was standing right next to her. also ive let the original composition be in order to create the effect of space and in order to show how tiny she and the pup were.
